14th Sunday of the Year.
FR. FRED'S ANNIVERSARY.
This Saturday we will celebrate Fr. Fred's 55th Anniversary to the Priesthood. Back on 11th July 1953'the Cardinal in Westminster ordained Frederick Heptonstall into the Priesthood… along with over 30 other men. This means that FrFred is soon to celebrate his 55th Anniversary. Not only that, some 11 days later on the 22nd July he 'hits 80'. Fred doesn't want any fuss, in fact, he didn't want me to mention it at all .. a compromise has been agreed !!! We will have a simple Mass to celebrate both the 55th and his 80th birthday at the 12.15 Saturday morning Mass on July 12th. Afterwards we will go to the Social Centre next door and have cup of tea or a beer or whatever, and if folk bring any grub we could share a Jacob's join.
As they say in the Olden Days Fred .. Ad Multos Annos..
30 BOOKS IN THE BIBLE QUIZ …
The one on the back of the newsletter a bit ago......answer sheets at back of church.......honest, they are there now.

CATHOLIC RESCUE SOCIETY
The Society's Adoption Service.
STATEMENT
"Some recent Press reports may have given the impression that The Catholic Children's Rescue Society is closing. This is not the case. From January 2009 CCRS will no longer be recruiting, assessing or approving adoptive applicants but ALL OTHER SERVICES i.e. fostering, post-adoptive support, mother & baby homes and children's residential care are set to continue. There are plans for CCRS to merge with Catholic Welfare Societies to create a new charity that will help both children & vulnerable adults. Our commitment to children, however, will not waver.
The reasons behind the closure of one part of our adoption service are complex & cannot be reduced to a headline or sound-bite (as the media love to do). However, please be reassured that the Society will remain a Catholic agency working on your behalf for children & families of the Diocese, so we need your support more than ever. If anyone would like more information, please contact us on 01614457741 or via e-mail info@ccrsorg.co.uk

ST. ALBAN'S SOCIAL CLUB.
It is a fine place that can be "hired" for family functions …. 40th / 50th / Birthday parties etc….
We have a Sunday evening Social with a Singer: so if you would like to become a member then simply pop in and ask for a membership Form at the bar: it costs EVEN LESS THAN a tenner for your 1st Years membership and half that in the next years. You do not need to be a member to hire the club for a "DO" == so join in and come along and support a grand Parish Asset.
WEDNESDAY EVENING IN THE CLUB QUIZ NIGHT FROM 9.30 pm….Fr Jude question master…
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL. FOLLOWED BY-:THE MEMORARE
Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that it is a thing unheard of, That anyone ever had recourse to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, and was left forsaken. Filled therefore with confidence in your goodness I fly to you, O Mother, Virgin of virgins. To you I come, before you I stand a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my poor words, O Mother of the Word of God, but graciously hear and grant my prayer. Amen.
GOING IN HOSPITAL?.
Another reminder that if anyone goes to Hospital and is likely to be there for a few days a week or longer…. Then please let me know and I will do my best to visit them in hospital. We do not have the same Hospital Priest cover as in old…. So the local priests do there best to pop up to see folk in hospital… but we do need to be told they are in and which ward !! Many thanks.
